Useless!!

It does not DLD on Lion. So worthless. How can an App Dev let such a glaring error exist in the first place?

Absolutely Beautiful

It takes forever to download but its worth the wait. One of the best apps yet!

This is breathtakingly beautiful. Think about the massive files of videos this provides and just have a cup of tea while it downloads. It is definitely worth the wait. Love this app! Thank you so much for making it free.

I downloaded this large application because I wanted to have the dolphin video and information -- but this free version doesnt have it. You need to take off the dolphin screen shots if you are not going to include a "dolphin aquarium" choice in your produce. It is false advertising and bait and switch!

Freeze up your mac HD Free

The only app that just doesnt work. Even the update with fixes made my computer freeze up. Terrible!

Several reviews said its worth the VERY long wait for download/install but Im afraid not. For reference, I have a 15" 2.53GHz MacBook Pro with 4GB of RAM running Mac OS X 10.6.8. The 1st time I tried running RA HD Free, iTunes came on... and RA HD Free quit when I changed over to iTuens to see what was going on. The 2nd time I tried running RA HD Free, after an interminably long wait (over a minute) staring at the spinning beach ball on a dark screen, I tried the Escape key and the program suddenly began to run for about 7 seconds, then asked if I was sure I wanted to quit... and quit on its own before I clicked anything. The 3rd attempt brought me to the now-familiar dark screen & spinning beach ball, and after just shy of THREE MINUTES waiting for it to do something I forced a shutdown. There will not be a 4th attempt, this bloated brick of an app has been deleted from my hard drive.

I passed on this free app for a long time because of all the negative reviews, but finaly was curious enough to give it a shot and was pleasantly surprised. Ive ran the app I think about four times now without even the slighest hint of problems. No bugs in this version that ive noticed. I usually just leave the app running a couple of hours while Im cleaning up the house so although Ive only had it a few days, I feel like I should of encountered some of the problems others have complained about. Im using a late 2011 MBP running os 10.6.8. I think some people may have overlooked the requirements state you must have a system that uses a 64-bit kernel which im not sure was standard until the beginning of 2011. Click on about this Mac, more info, then highlight software and it will tell you whether your running in 32 or 64 bit processing. With all that out of the way I would say RA HD is pretty good for free. It has nice looking video of Oysters, Jellyfish, Sharks, and Stingrays. It doesnt compare to blu-ray video of Blue Planet: Seas of Life or ocean footage of Planet Earth video, but decent looking footage and good length of time per species. Some of the aquatic animals are colorul and exotic looking, even the oysters, but I wish they had more exciting Seascapes. Most of the environments are grey and boring with very little plantlife. I might buy the full version while its on sale for a dollar just to support projects like this. Dont know if I would pay full price of $10 bucks though. Tapmedia hasnt made it clear on how much more content is unlocked with purchase. There are no dolphins in this version, but I assume I would get at least a coulple more species with the nice little tid-bits of educational info to go with them.

This app worked just fine on my computer. No freezing or interruptions with other programs like others have complained about. The images are beautiful, although I wouldnt use this as a learning app. The rays (Elasmobranchii) are listed under the phylum Cnidaria, which is not true. They should be listed under the phylum Chordata, along with the sharks. I havent looked through the others to check, but at least hopefully now the designer knows and can double check the info. Enjoy the images!

nice blank screen

The blank screen was great. That is about all this application had. I got rid of it.

ok so i got it before bed and i woke up in the morning and it just wasnt on my computer i checked before i fell asleep and it was loading very slowly so i thought it would be done in the morning. aggravated,i went back to the app store and bought it again it completely slowed down my computer ,all the apps i was trying to buy after i got it and it even slowed down my internet. DO NOT GET IT IF YOU HAVE THE MACBOOK AIR VERSION 1.1.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In spite of some of the negative reviews, I decided to give this app a shot. It was the fourth app I loaded onto my new Macbook-Pro. It froze my screen and showed only a small colored spinning dot. I had to reboot the machine, and even then it rebooted in a frozen state. Luckily, after a couple of minutes it began playing a scene of an acquarium and playing music. I immediately stopped the app and deleted it from my machine. I suggest that you NOT load this app on your Mac.
